Donna Jean Ryg

Funeral services for Donna Ryg, age 77, of Milaca, will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 11 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca with Rev. Tim Bauer officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Casketbearers will include Ricky Ryg, Rodney Ryg, Nick Marudas, Jarrod Blackwell, Jerry Peterson and Shane Marudas. Arr. Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home of Milaca. Donaphy Jean Ryg was born March 14, 1931 to Winfred and Ester (Hubbell) Bowen in Rock Rapids, IA. She grew up in Rake, IA, graduating from Rake High School in 1949. She married Darvin Ryg in March 1950 in Rake, IA. They lived in Rake, IA and they worked at the telephone office. In 1954, they moved to a farm northeast of Milaca, MN. Donna most recently worked as a home health aide. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed going to the casino and garage sales. She died on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at the Milaca Elim Home. She is survived by her husband, Darvin of Milaca; children, Cynthia Ryg of Minneapolis, Ricky and wife Ruth Ryg of Foreston, Linda and husband Nick Marudas of Milaca and Rodney Ryg of Onamia; grandchildren, Selina and husband Jarrod Blackwell of Milaca and Shane Marudas of Milaca; great-granddaughter, Alyssa Steglich; step grandchildren, Michelle (Jerry) Peterson and Jeffrey Fielder, step great-grandchildren, Marrissa, Rachel and Mathew Peterson, adopted grand daughter Shirani Jayasuriya; twin sister, Darlene and husband Ivan Bonham of Texas; sister, Alma and husband Claus Klingenberg of George, Iowa; special friend, who was like a daughter to her, Liz Ryg; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Connie and ten siblings.
