Wesley Andrew Macy

February 26, 1954 — October 23, 2015

Wesley Andrew Macy was born on February 26, 1954 in El Dorado, Kansas to Alton and Margaret Ruth (McCormick) Macy. He grew up in a solid Christian home on a farm near Augusta, KS. Wes graduated in 1972 from Circle High School in Towanda, KS, earned his BA in 1976 from Friends University in Wichita, KS and his Master of Divinity degree in 1984 from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL. On March 5, 1977 Wesley married Sharon Gilchrist at the Central Baptist Church of Augusta, KS. In September of 1984, Wes, Sharon and their two daughters Rachel and Jessica moved to Wilton, ND where Wes served as Pastor of the Mission Evangelical Free Church for six years. In 1990 they moved to the Estes Brook, MN area where Wes served as Pastor of the Estes Brook Evangelical Free Church until June of 2014. In October of 2014, Wes began working as a driver for the Dial-A-Ride division of the St. Cloud Metro Bus System. What matters most to Wes is Jesus. While on this Earth he enjoyed many of God’s good gifts (gardening, reading, doing pottery, restoring farm toys, writing humorous articles for friends and family…). But first and foremost what matters to Wes is Jesus, and that is what he would want to matter the most to you, too. Wes is survived by his wife Sharon; daughters Rachel (Brad) Bentler of Merrifield and Jessica of Sauk Rapids and “adopted” niece/daughter Ellie Shrake of Sauk Rapids; grandsons Gunnar and Chase Bentler and Ellie’s dear daughter Ava-Marie. He is also survived by his siblings David (Rebecca) Macy of Clay Center, KS, Laura (David) Cline of Wichita, KS, Thomas (Linda) Macy of Carmel, IN, and John (Robin) Macy of Miltonvale, KS, as well as numerous wonderful nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends. The Funeral Service will be held at Harvest Fellowship of Sauk Rapids on Friday, October 30th at 7:00 pm with visitation at the church from 5:00-7:00pm. A private family burial will be held at the Milo Cemetery the following day.
