Funeral services for Vernon Hartleib, age 79, of Onamia, will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 11 AM at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca with Rev. Stephen Blenkush officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Onamia. Military honors will be provided by the Onamia Vets Club Honor Guard. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday.
Vernon George Hartleib was born September 27, 1936 in Minot, North Dakota to George and Lilly (Klimpel) Hartleib. He graduated from Sawyer High School and then earned a degree from the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, North Dakota. He was united in marriage to Kathryn Hanson on July 4, 1959 in Mile City, Montana. They moved from Wahpeton, North Dakota to Blaine, MN in 1970. They made their home in Blaine until retiring and moving to Onamia in 1999. Vernon passed away on Friday, November 6, 2015.
He is survived wife, Kathryn; children, Craig (Lori) Hartleib, Allen (Diane) Hartleib, Teresa (Michael) Towle, Kim Hartleib, Lloyd Hartleib and Sharmin Hartleib; eight grandchildren; 2 great-grandsons; seven brothers; four sisters; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Baby Girl Hartleib and Sharon Preskey and brothers, Murel and George Hartleib.
