Ruby Amelia Erickson, age 87, passed away at the Milaca Elim Home on Monday, March 16, 2009.
Ruby was born to Axel and Amalia (Anderson) Miller in Stanchfield, MN. and resided on the family farm until her marriage. Ruby married Maurice (Ike) Erickson on October 1, 1939 in Princeton, MN. Ruby and Ike made their home in Princeton and Milaca. They had five children: Audrey (Verlin) Johnson, Milaca; Walter (Deanna) Erickson, St. Cloud; Shirley (David) Hubers, North Oaks; Glenn (Nancy) Erickson, Mille Lacs Lake and Diane Erickson (Jerome Perry), Houlton, WI. Ruby and Ike were blessed with seventeen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Ike, on December 11, 1983.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Axel and Amalia, and siblings: Florence Miller, Winnerd Miller, Virginia Mason, Gilbert Miller, Gladys Neske, Roy Miller, and Ethel Baldwin.
Ruby resided in the Milaca Elim Home since February 2003. She loved the Elim Home and felt safe and secure there. She was always thankful for all the staff’s kindness and the loving care they provided. She enjoyed singing hymns and listening to music. She always loved visits by her children, grandchildren, friends and the preachers. She was thankful for Arlou/Dean Peterson, Lois/Mike Kramer, Della Schmiege and many other meeting friends for making sure she made it to Sunday services.
Visitation and funeral service will be Saturday, March 21, 2009 in the Chapel at the Milaca Elim Home. Visitation will be between 11:30 and 12:30. The funeral service will start at 12:30 followed by a lunch at the Elim Home. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Arrangements made by Petersen-Johnson Funeral Home.
