Interment will follow at Estes Brook Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 – 7:30 PM Tuesday at Estes Brook Ev. Free Church and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Donald Frank Dahlstrom was born May 3, 1925 on the family farm in Estes Brook, MN to William and Selma (Anderson) Dahlstrom. He had one brother, Paul, and he and his family attended Estes Brook Free Church. Donald attended District 7 country school, where he graduated from the 8th grade. There was no way to get into town for high school, so instead he got a job working for farmers in the area. In 1943, he met the “love” of his life, Harriet Swanson, and in 1948, the two of them were married. In 1959, Donald went to work in Anoka at Hoffman Engineering. He worked there until his retirement in 1987. Donald loved to travel and took many bus trips. He also loved to drive his car or 4-wheeler through the countryside just enjoying the view. Donald was a farmer to the end, wanting to make sure the corn crop was in for the year.
Family was very important to Donald. Donald and Harriet have four children, Duane (Diane), Darlene (Bob) Litfin, Donna (Carl) Chapp, and Dean (Nancy). They have nine grandchildren, Mindy (Troy) Johnson, Eric (Tessa) Dahlstrom, Mitch Litfin, Elyse Dahlstrom, Andy Chapp, Alex Chapp, Kayla (Carter) Ash, Darin Dahlstrom and Megan Dahlstrom; and four great-grandchildren, Lily Dahlstrom, Braxtyn Johnson, Jaydyn Johnson and Emma Dahlstrom. In Donald’s last days, his family was fortunate enough to spend precious time with him. He always wanted to know how their day was going. Donald passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016 at St. Cloud Hospital.
