Funeral services for Dorothy Sahlstrom, age 76, of Milaca, will be held Friday, June 10, 2016 at 2 PM at Milaca Evangelical Free Church in Milaca with Rev. Tom Sahlstrom, Rev. Dan Clausen and Rev. Dale Clifton officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM Thursday at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Dorothy Arlene Sahlstrom was born September 27, 1939 in Granite Ledge Township, Benton County, MN to Victor and Gladys (Grandy) Olson. She graduated from Milaca High School in 1957. Dorothy later attended Northwestern College from 1957 to 1959, with an emphasis on Bible studies and music. She was united in marriage to John Sahlstrom on December 29, 1961 at Milaca Evangelical Free Church. To this union three children were born, Randy, Patricia and Brian.
Through the years, she worked as an administrative assistant at various locations, including seventeen years at the Milaca Free Church. She was also a very active volunteer at the church, serving as head pianist, member of the choir and teaching four and five year old Sunday School.
Dorothy was a skilled seamstress, fantastic cook and an expert with word puzzles. After retiring, she and John enjoyed traveling the country on motor coach tours, including a trip to Alaska. Dorothy passed away Monday, June 6, 2016 at St. Cloud Hospital.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, John; children, Randy (Cathy) of Pease, Patti (Tim) Armstrong of Shakopee and Brian (Paula) of Foley; thirteen grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephanie, Michael, Christina, Nicholas, Timothy, Ashton, Braden, Callie and Elaina Sahlstrom and Emma, Chloe and Sarah Armstrong; sister, Marian Christensen; also by many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Dale and Dennis Olson and an infant sister.
