Mass of Christian Burial for Evelyn Burns, age 82, of Milaca, will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 11 AM at St. Louis Catholic Church in Foreston. Interment will follow at St. Louis Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM Monday at the church and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Evelyn Marie (Jepp) Burns of Milaca, formerly of Foreston MN, passed away the morning of Friday June 17th at the Milaca Elim Care Center while in hospice care.
She was born on April 18th, 1934 to William and Etta Jepp in Winnebago, MN. She grew up there and in Brooten, MN, where Evelyn attended elementary school. They eventually moved to Foreston and she attended the Milaca Public Schools, graduating in 1952.
She married William E. Burns on November 7th, 1953 and resided and worked in Minneapolis until they decided to move home to Foreston. They eventually bought her parents farm, where they milked cows and farmed the land, and raised their children.
Evelyn also worked in several different places and retired from Woodcraft Industries. After retirement, she and Bill enjoyed traveling and wintering in Texas. Evelyn was a member of the Milaca Legion women’s auxiliary. She enjoyed many hobbies especially: quilting, sewing, macrameing lawn chairs, gardening, canning, camping and fishing and of course… making potato salad!
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Etta; son-in-law Scott Anderson and husband, William.
She is survived by her children, Lynda Anderson; Don (Wanda) Burns, Ron (Denise) Burns, Barb (Dave) Harms, Billy (Teresa) Burns; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Audie Anderson; Travis and Justin Burns; Jill (Richard) Boswell and Blayze, Jayce, Madyson; Joe (Erin) Burns and Colton and Morgan; Traci (Tony) Warner and Trevor; Chris Harms and Jessa and Jordan; Toni Harms and Horace Wimberly and Lamond; Maria Burns; also by good friend, Jack Wimmers and many other friends and family.
