Maurice Emanuel Bergstrom

Maurice Bergstrom, age 84, of Milaca, died May 29, 2009 at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 11 AM at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca with Rev. Don Matheson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Military honors will be provided by Hansen-Hayes American Legion Post #178 and Siemers-Hakes VFW Post #10794. Casketbearers will include Austin Siemers, Mary Schend, Claire Schend, Susan Siemers, Wes Siemers and Richard Bergstrom. Honorary casketbearers will include Lauren Siemers, Jessie Siemers, Tom Schend, Dallas DeCoria, Brooke DeCoria, Aspen Schend, Layken DeCoria and Easton DeCoria. Maurice Emanuel Bergstrom was born September 25, 1924 in Minneapolis, MN to Oscar and Julia (Jensen) Bergstrom. He grew up near Milaca and graduated from Milaca High School in 1942. He enlisted in the US Navy and served from 1943 to 1946 during WWII. He married Dorothy Ledeen on November 3, 1950 at Zion Lutheran Church in Milaca and to this union three children were born. They made their home on a farm near Bock and they lived there all of their lives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy in 2004. He enjoyed fishing and watching the Twins and Vikings games on TV. He also loved his dog, Freddie. He is survived by his children, Susan and husband Wes Siemers of Milaca, Mary and husband Tom Schend of Yakima, WA and Richard of Milaca; grandchildren, Austin and wife Jessie Siemers of Milaca, Lauren Siemers of Milaca, Brooke and husband Dallas DeCoria of Kennewick, WA, and Claire Schend of Yakima, WA; great-grandchildren, Aspen, Layken and Easton; brother, Bob and wife Erma Bergstrom of Milaca; sister-in-law, Sylvia Ledeen of Milaca; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy and granddaughter, Kelly Siemers.
