Kathryn Ann (Kathy) Johnson was born on October 1, 1936 at the Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis to Ransome and Florence (Palar) Goodrich. The family resided in Fridley and Kathryn attended the Anoka Schools where she graduated from High School. She attended the University of Minnesota where she obtained her Degree in Education. Kathryn was united in marriage to Dennis Emil Johnson on June 17, 1960, in Brooklyn Center. They resided in Fridley and later moved to Maple Grove. There, Kathryn taught Special Education classes in the Osseo School District for many years. Kathryn was a long time member and organist at Berean Evangelical Free Church in Brooklyn Center. After retirement in 1993, the couple moved to Zimmerman and Kathryn volunteered at the Bible For Missions Thrift Store in Robbinsdale. Her husband preceded her in death in July of 1997. After Dennis was gone, Kathryn served as a missionary with Campus Crusade for Christ in China. She also volunteered at the New Life Family Services in Coon Rapids and Anoka. In her spare time, Kathy loved sewing, quilting, crafts, reading and teaching English as a second language. She also loved to spend time with her daughters and their families. Kathy was especially proud of her grandchildren.
Kathryn died on Monday, July 25, 2016, at the Cherrywood Advanced Living in Richmond, MN, at the age of 79 years 9 months and 24 days. She is survived by 3 daughters, Leanne (Paul) Miller of Buffalo, Denita (Craig) King of Twinsburg, Ohio, and Linda (Steve) Keaton of Richmond, 14 grandchildren, 2 sisters, Marilyn (Doug) McIndoo of Weslaco, TX, and Laurel (Robert) Oestreich of East Moline, IL, and one brother, Robert Goodrich of Fresno, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister in law, Betty Goodrich.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, August 1, 2016, at the Milaca Evangelical Free with Rev. Tom Sterneman officiating. Friends may call at the church before services at 1 PM. Interment will in the Borgholm Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Paul and Jonny Miller, Craig and Denny King, and Steve and Anthony Keaton. Denny King will serve as the worship leader. Arrangements were made by the Peterson Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca.
