Dwight Clarence Allen was born on April 10, 1947 to Clarence and Elaine (Johnson) Allen in Rush City, MN. He attended school and worked on the family farm. Dwight entered the United States Army serving in Vietnam. He was united in marriage to Patricia Winkelman on August 31, 1968 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Duelm, MN. They resided in Rush City where Dwight worked at the Land O’ Lakes drying plant. They moved to Foley where Dwight worked as a heavy equipment operator and was a member the local 49ers Union. In 1983, they moved to Onamia. Dwight’s hobbies included fishing, hunting and welding. He was a member of the American Legion in Milaca and a former member of the VFW. Dwight died on Friday, June 19, 2009 at the St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 62 years 2 months and 9 days.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia, children, Amy Winkelman of Waconia, Kenneth Allen of Milaca, Jason (Heather) Allen on Milaca, Jeremy (Jodi) Allen of Foreston, Kathy Allen of Milaca, Charles “CJ” Allen of Milaca and Casey Allen of Milaca , 10 grandchildren, Cassandra, Jacob, Alicia, Tyler, Ryan, Nicole, Drew, Abby, Derek and Izaiah, sister, Judy Houston of Rush City, 4 brothers, Roger Allen of Rush City, Clarence Allen of Grantsburg, WI, Larry Allen of Cloquet and Steve Allen of Little Falls, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Milaca. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 PM on Tuesday at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca. Music will be provided by Marion Katke and the St. Mary’s Choir. Casketbearers will include Jason Allen, Kenny Allen, Jeremy Allen, Casey Allen, Charles Allen and James Norris. Interment will take place a the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. Arrangements are with the Peterson Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca.
