Funeral services for Karen Kragt, age 74, of Milaca, will be held Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 2 PM at Milaca Alliance Church with Pastor Will Kosel officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca. Visitation will be from 4 - 6 PM Friday at Milaca Alliance Church and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Karen Katherine Kragt was born April 15, 1942 in Scandia, Minnesota to Chester and Katherine (Miller) Mickelson. As a young girl, Karen and her family moved to Milaca where she grew up and then graduated from Milaca High School in 1960. Karen married Ronald Kragt on October 30, 1964 and shortly thereafter moved to the Twin Cities. After the birth of their four children, they returned to Milaca and purchased her parent’s hobby farm.
First and foremost, Karen was a homemaker, but she also worked for a time at the Milaca Elim Home and as a paraprofessional in the Milaca Schools.
In addition, Karen and Ron cared for over forty foster children over several decades.
Karen was a member of the Milaca Alliance Church and was very active in a wide variety of ministries.
Karen enjoyed quilting, camping, gardening, bowling, and spending time with her family.
She passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at her residence near Milaca.
She is survived by her husband, Ron; son, Jerry (Shelly) Kragt, daughter, Becky (Richard) Haukos; eight grandchildren, Katie, Anna, and Jason Kragt; Ashley, Tanner, Cally, Braden, and Hannah Haukos; two sisters, Esther (Howard) Amborn and Marlys (Lee) Minks; two brothers, Jim (Vicki) Mickelson and Marvin (Linda) Mickelson; along with dearly loved nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Karen was preceded in death by her two sons, Jeffrey and Jayson.
