A gathering of family and friends will be held for Carol J. Eggen, age 74, of Milaca, on Friday, October 14, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Milaca American Legion. There will be a luncheon, but guests are welcome anytime. Private interment will be held at Brookside Cemetery at a later date. Carol Jean Eggen was born February 04, 1942 in Langdon, North Dakota to Clifford and Evelyn (Scott) Ryan. She moved to Milaca in 1957, graduating from Milaca High School in 1960. She was united in marriage to Jimmy Eggen on December 01, 1962. The couple lived in Hugo after they first were married until moving to a farm near Bock in 1971. They raised 4 children and Carol worked at the Mille Lacs County Courthouse for many years. She enjoyed bowling (every Wednesday night for many years), baking, cooking, shopping (especially for Christmas gifts for others), flower gardening, and especially her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed. Carol passed away Sunday, October 02, 2016 at her residence near Bock. She is survived by her husband of nearly 54 years, Jimmy of Milaca; children, Cindy (Jeff) Hendrickson of Elk River, Russel (Mary) of Princeton, Eric (GeorgeAnn Hauger) of Milaca, and Darla (Lee) Rahe of Zimmerman; 10 grandchildren, Kayla Hendrickson of Morris, Emily Hendrickson of Elk River, Lindsey Hendrickson of Mankato, Scott (Christina) Eggen of Sartell, Reid Eggen of Saint Cloud, Patrick Eggen of Milaca, Tyler Eggen of Milaca, Leah (Daniel Jerde) Eggen of Milaca, Kevin Rahe of Zimmerman, and Ryan Rahe of Zimmerman; 3 great-grandchildren, Zayden Jerde of Milaca, Kaylie and Chelsea Eggen of Sartell; Brothers: Roger (Janet) Ryan of Milaca, Brad (Cathy) Ryan of Atoka, OK, and sister Lori Lanning of Little Falls; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Carol was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Joyce Lowe, and brother, Rick Ryan. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or a Food Shelf of your choice.
