Jeannette Florence Falink died peacefully on Monday, July 13, 2009 at the Elim Care Center in Milaca, Minnesota.
Jeannette was born November 11, 1917, in Riceville, Iowa to John M. and Florence Christine Pulver. She was united in marriage to Lloyd F. Falink on January 4, 1938. To this union a daughter, Sharon was born.
Jeanette and Lloyd made their home in Robbinsdale, Minnesota and had a cabin at Briggs Lake where they enjoyed fishing, gardening, and riding on their pontoon. Jeannette and Lloyd also cared for numerous foster children while living in Robbinsdale. They eventually moved to their cabin and made it their home in the 1970s. They also spent some winters in East Apache Junction, AZ.
They were faithful members of the Becker Baptist Church where Jan was active in ladies aid and Bible study. She loved Christian music and liked to entertain. She was employed at Hi Point Lodge on Briggs Lake, a 26 bed nursing home, where she did the cooking from “scratch”. No fast foods in those days.
Jeannette also loved to play cards and visit with her friends. After Lloyd died, she moved to St. Cloud and then to Mobile Manor in Milaca; worked for Coin-Tainer, Inc.; and was a regular diner at the Milaca Senior Dining Site. With her health declining, she sold her trailer in July 2005, and moved into Heritage House Assisted Living, where she resided until Oct. 2008, when she became a resident of the Milaca Elim Home.
Jeannette is survived by daughter, Sharon J. (Oliver) Halgunseth of Shelby Township, Michigan; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; several great-nephews and a great-niece; and friend/care-giver, Gloria Oien.
Jeannette was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd on Dec. 18, 1986; her parents; 1 brother Howard Pulver, 2 sisters, Audrey Nelsen and Alice Taylor; and her good friend and traveling companion, Evelyn.
Visitation and a memorial service were held Friday, July 17th in the Elim Care Center Chapel, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Lunch was served at Trinity Lutheran Church across from Elim.
Interment took place later that afternoon at Glen Haven Memorial Garden of the Last Supper, Crystal, Minnesota. Arrangements by Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home, Milaca.
