William (Bill) Oktor Siemers was born on February 18, 1940 to Hewart and Emma (Mattson) Siemers in Milaca, Minnesota. He graduated from Foley High School in 1958. As a young man he worked on farms and as a veterinary assistant. He was united in marriage to Judith Anderson in 1962, residing in Milaca.
Bill spent most of his long career driving and managing operations at Wayne Transport, eventually serving as Chief Executive Officer. In 1969 he was united in marriage to Karen Pike in Milaca, Minnesota He started his auctioneering business in 1970, which continued until his retirement. He was united in marriage to Joan Donovan in Rockville, Minnesota in 1995, residing in Rice, Minnesota.
Bill was a member of the Rice American Legion, the St. Cloud Eagles Club, and the Minnesota Auctioneers Association. Bill loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and his many friends. He hunted all over the world with close friends, including travels to Argentina, Mexico, and Brazil. He also enjoyed raising beef cattle as well as Belgian horses. Over the past 25 years, he took great pleasure in spending time at his cabin on Mille Lacs Lake.
Bill passed away at his home on Saturday, August 1st, at the age of 69 years, 5 months, and 14 days. He is survived by children Nathan Siemers of Pennington, New Jersey, Joel Wallender of Anchorage, Alaska, Mitchell Siemers of Milaca, Minnesota, Marisa (Brad) Schmertman of Brevard, North Carolina, and Breana Siemers of Rice, Minnesota, his three grandchildren Brock and Braden Schmertman, Matthew Wallender, his mother Emma Siemers of Milaca, Minnesota, and three brothers Gordon and wife Alma of Cross Lake, Minnesota, Dale and wife Mary of Milaca, Minnesota, Robert and wife Rosie of Oak Park, Minnesota, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his infant son Peter, father, and brothers Sheldon, Curtis, and Wayne.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, August 6th at Henry’s Auction and Catering Center in Foley, Minnesota. Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday, August 5th, also at Henry’s in Foley. Arrangements have been made with Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca (320) 983 3488.
