Jonathan Michael Geurkink was born February 15, 1984 in Alexandria, MN. June 4, 1984 he was adopted by Bob and Shirley Geurkink. He grew up in the Milaca area where he became a member of the Christian Reformed Church. He attended Community Christian School in Pease and Milaca Public School in Milaca. In 2000, he enrolled in Minnesota Academy of the Blind in Faribault, MN where he spent five enjoyable years and graduated in 2005. He lived in North Branch for one year and moved to Milaca where he was living at the present time enrolled at the DAC. Jonathan was a social person and loved to share whatever he had; whether it be conversations, stickers, candy or a prize he received, or a Skip-bo or Uno game. His number one purpose in life was to live his life to God’s glory. He was always ready to share his faith or say a prayer for you. He enjoyed volunteering, especially for Vacation Bible School and nursery at Pease Reformed Church (children were treasures in his life). He also liked to volunteer at the Elim Home. Jonathan went to heaven August 23, 2009 at his home in Milaca at the age of 25 years, 6 months and 8 days. He is survived by his parents, Bob and Shirley Geurkink; brother, Ben Geurkink (Bree, Blake and Carly); grandparents, Egbert and Beulah Zomer and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Mildred Geurkink.
