Funeral services for Cecil C. Hewitt, Jr. age 82, of Princeton and Milaca, will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease with Rev. David Smit officiating. Interment will follow at Pease Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Hansen-Hayes American Legion Post #178 & Siemers-Hakes VFW Post #10794. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM on Tuesday at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease. Arr. Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home of Milaca. Cecil C. Hewitt Jr. was born on March 22, 1927 to Cecil and Mary (Bivins) Hewitt in Miami, Florida. After graduating from High School he joined the United States Navy, also serving in the Air Force. He was united in marriage to Grayce Pluimer on December 29, 1947. The couple has resided in many places including, Miami, FL, Homestead and Dover Air Force Bases, Onamia, Milaca, Princeton, Anoka, Zimmerman, and Cape Coral, FL. Hewitt was employed by the military and co-owned City Auto Lube, City Auto Service and later Milaca Marine. Cecil and his wife Grayce managed the Crazy Horse Camp Ground, and he also worked in car sales and was a builder and general contractor. Hewitt was a long time member of the Christian Reformed Church in Pease and the VFW Post in Milaca. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, gardening, watching Nascar and spectator sports, especially the Twins and Vikings. After retirement he enjoyed visiting friends at the Elim Home and helping his son, Shawn at the Cambridge Antique Fair. Cecil died on Monday, August 24, 2009 at the Milaca Elim at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 2 days. Cecil Hewitt is survived by his wife, Grayce of Princeton; daughter, Paula and husband Alan Fleischauer of Minnetonka; sons, Cecil C. (Curt) III and wife Ana of Milaca and Shawn and wife Cheryl of Woodbury; four grandchildren, Alyssa and husband Aric Larson of St. Paul, Brett Nyman of Woodbury and his fiancé Amy Regelman, and Rachel and Ashely Hewitt both of Woodbury; brother, Dennis Hewitt of Winter Haven, FL and sister, Mary “Chuckie” Morrow of Lake Wales, FL; also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by brother, Hewell Shipp “Buster” Hewitt and his parents.
