Lila Mae Larson was born on August 24, 1931 to Arnold and Irene (Van Schepen) Rolland in Minneapolis, MN. She was born at the General Hospital known as Hennepin County Medical Center. Lila attended grade school at Bryn Mawr and Sheridan. She graduated from Minneapolis Vocational High School in 1950. After graduating she started working as an Operating Room Technician at St. Barnabas Hospital and Metropolitan Medical Center until 1965. In the fall of 1950 she accepted Jesus as her personal Savior. In 1955 she met Wayne Kenneth Larson whom she married on September 24, 1955. Five children were born to that union, Jean Marie, Lisa Ann, Harlan Wayne, Robert Owen and Robin Lee. Wayne and Lila lived in the Mounds View and Fridley area for 13 years. In the spring of 1968 they moved to a farm in Foley, where they resided until September 18, 1999 when Wayne passed away. After her husband’s death she moved to New Brighton and lived with her sister for one year before returning to the farm at Foley.
Lila went home to be with her Lord on November 20, 2009 at the Fairview Northland Regional Hospital in Princeton at the age of 78 years 2 months and 27 days. She is survived by three daughters, Jean Marie and husband Nasim Ayub of Roseville, MN, Lisa Ann and husband Curtis Beutz of Oak Park and Robin Lee and husband David Nelson of Foley, seven grandchildren, Jamie, Brandon, Jaffery, Hope, Hinnah, Alina and Milton, 4 great grandchildren, Danielle, Dawson, Madison and Isabella, 1 brother, Allan and wife Elfriede Rolland of Fridley, 2 sisters, Elizabeth Ann Rolland of New Brighton and Margueritte Betts of Sandstone, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayne and 2 sons Harlan and Robert.
Funeral services will be held 10 AM Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at the Estes Brook Free Church with Rev Wes Macy and Chaplain Dale Swan officiating. Interment will be at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday evening at the Peterson Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca. Casketbearers will be Brandon Custard, Arnold Betts, Jaffery Ayub, Adam Ziwicki, Ben Johnson and Jesse Roberts. Music is by Stephen Harrington and Andrea Paulson.
