Phyllis Leona Anderson

Funeral services for Phyllis Leona Anderson, 92, of Milaca will be held Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Milaca with the Rev. Stephen Blenkush officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour before services on Saturday. Phyllis died Dec. 26 at the Milaca Elim Home. She was born Oct. 29, 1917 to Hannun Boone and Elizabeth Mae (Smith) Grace in Bethel, Minn. She moved with her parents to Oak Park in 1922 where they operated the barber shop and cafe. She was baptized and confirmed at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in 1927. They moved to Foley in 1930 where Phyllis graduated from high school in 1935. She married Clyde E. Kennedy in Milaca on Oct. 29, 1937. The lived in Foreston until World War II, at which time she worked in St. Paul at Halmon Field modifying B 24s and B 25s. The couple returned to Foreston where Clyde preceded her in death in 1946. Phyllis returned to Minneapolis to work for AT&T and Northwestern Bell for nearly 28 years. During this time she married Ralph 0. Anderson and moved to Bloomington. Ralph died in August of 1970. She married Melvin Anderson at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Bloomington in 1974. They spent the winters in Arizona and summers around Mille Lacs Lake. Melvin preceded her in death in 1993. She is survived by son, Kevin James Anderson of Eagan; and two grandsons, Steven and Scott Anderson. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Clemens, Bernard, Virgil and Robert Crace; two sisters, Ethel Schubert and Marian Bergstrom; and three husbands, Clyde, Ralph and Melvin.
