Minnie Fetters was born on March 7, 1921 to Ernest and Hazel (Hewitt) Dinger in Hecla, SD. She attended Willdinger Country School near her home. As a young woman she worked for area families. Minnie was united in marriage to Willard Fetters on March 31, 1939 in Britton, SD. They resided in the Sioux Falls area until the 1940's when they moved to Hecla where they farmed until 1955. The couple moved to Page north of Milaca where as a couple they operated a diary farm. In 1970 her husband preceded her in death and in 1979 Minnie moved into Milaca. Minnie worked for Gorecki Manufacturing retiring at age 62. Minnie spent 20 years wintering in California with her sister and was a member of the Tibbet's Brook Mother's Club. Her hobbies include crossword puzzles, reading, playing scrabble, taking walks and playing with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Minnie entered the Milaca Elim Home in June of 2006 where she passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at the age of 88 years 9 months and 26 days.
She is survived by 4 daughters, Dilly (Larry) Salgren of Milaca, Alma "Susie" (Dennis) Sahli of Aberdeen, SD, Hazel "Myrt" (Tom) Sletten of Larimore, ND, and Evva (Shaun) Munson of Quamba, MN; 3 sons, Bruce (Jean) Fetters of Brainerd, Dow (Kim) Fetters of Milaca and Joe (Karen) of Milaca; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Harlan (Barbara) Dinger of San Diego, CA and Albert (Darlyne) Dinger of Aberdeen, SD and 2 sisters, Hazel Wilberts of Banning, CA and Donna (Charles) Stehly of Hecla, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 5 brothers; 3 sisters; daughter, Doris Ann; son, Willis; grandson Dustin and 2 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at the Peterson Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca with Rev. Tom Sahlstrom officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Peterson Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca. Music will be provided by Members of the Bridge Creek Band.
