Funeral services for Alden G. Johnson, age 87, of Milaca, will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church in Milaca with Rev. Stephen Blenkush officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca. Military honors will be provided by Hansen-Hayes American Legion Post #178 and Siemers-Hakes VFW Post #10794. Music will be provided by Cheryl Bailey. Casketbearers will include Eric Nelson, Erin Shankle, Michelle Coventry, Rich Mycue, Harley Eggen and Nathan Johnson. Arr. Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home of Milaca. Alden George Johnson was born November 21, 1922 in Milaca, MN to George and Ella (Nelson) Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca. He graduated from Milaca High School in 1942 and entered the U.S.Navy in 1943 where he served as a ship’s cook 2nd Class until 1946. He married Dorothy M. (Dahl) Bertelson on May 23, 1947. He worked at Borcher’s Drug Store in Milaca for 18 years and the Milaca Elim Nursing Home for 20 years until his retirement. He died on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the Milaca Elim Home. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, who is residing at the Milaca Elim Home; brother, Raymond Johnson of Crystal, MN; daughter, Lynda (Garry) Nelson of Ironton, MN; daughter-in-law, Sheryl Johnson of Saginaw, MN; grandchildren, Eric (Sara) Nelson of Zimmerman, MN, Erin (Kyle) Shankle and Michelle (James) Coventry both of Pine River, MN and Nathan Johnson of Saginaw, MN; great-grandchildren, Kaleb and Cassidy Shankle, Joslyn Nelson and Hayden Coventry; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gregory K. Johnson; infant brother, Bernard and sister, Novella (John) McClure.
