Funeral services for Paul Wilken, age 70, of Milaca, will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca with Rev. Tim Bauer officiating. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM on Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Casketbearers will be Craig, Alan, Randy and Dean Siemers and Anthony, Travis, Scott and Tyler Roehl. Honorary casketbearers will be Marisa, Megan and Alison Prince, Ande and Maizey Wilken and Braden, Treyton and Jaxsen Hardy. Military honors will be provided by the Hansen Hayes American Legion Post 178 of Milaca. Arr. Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home of Milaca.
Paul Edward Wilken was born on January 8, 1940 to Dorr and Evelyn (Nelson) Wilken in Kandiyohi County. He moved with his family to the Milaca area where he grew up and graduated from Milaca High School in 1958. In 1958, he entered the United States Army and was stationed in Korea. Paul drove for Wayne Transports and was united in marriage to Nancy (Mattson) on October 26, 1963 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca. The couple resided in Milaca where Paul continued to work for Wayne Transports. Paul was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Hansen-Hayes American Legion Post 178. For five years Paul drove for M.I.K Trucking until he retired for health reasons. Paul’s hobbies included hunting, fishing and cutting wood. He most enjoyed spending time with family and coffee with friends. Paul died at his home on Sunday, January 17, 2010.
He is survived by his wife Nancy; daughters, Connie (Bruce) Roehl of Zimmerman, Wendy (Mark) Prince of Milaca, and Jill (Eric) Hardy of Milaca; son, Tom (Nicole) Wilken of Excelsior, MN; 12 grandchildren, Anthony (Joni) Roehl , Travis, Scott and Tyler and (fiancé Sara) Roehl, Marisa, Megan and Alison Prince, Ande and Maizey Wilken, and Braden, Treyton and Jaxsen Hardy; sister, Mary (Dale) Siemers of Milaca; two brothers, Ronald (Pat) Wilken and David Wilken both of Milaca. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ramona.
