July 22, 1982 — February 20, 2010

Nick Bemis, age 27, of Cody, WY, formerly of Milaca, died on Saturday, February 20, 2010 as a result of a hunting accident in Cody, WY. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 1 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca with Rev. Barb Peterson officiating. Visitation will be from 11 AM to 1 PM at the church on Saturday. Interment will follow at Milo Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Hansen-Hayes American Legion Post #178 and Siemers-Hakes VFW Post #10794. Casketbearers will include Jesse Gerads, John Schafer, Jerome Carlile, Boston Doffing, Brandon Beck, Brian Hoeft and Doug Gossen. Honorary casketbearers will include Casey Edwards, Kip Claycom, Clay Strow and Chris Cornners. Nicholas Lee Bemis was born July 22, 1982 in Milaca, MN. He grew up near Foreston and graduated from Milaca High School in 2001. He entered the US Air Force and was stationed at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar from June to September 2004. When he was stateside he was stationed at Goldsborough, NC. When he completed his service, he returned to Milaca and did construction work. He also did bull riding in the rodeo in North Carolina. In 2008, he moved to Cody, WY to do construction work. He will be remembered for living life to the fullest and being willing to try anything. He loved riding motorcycles, dirt bikes and driving mud trucks. He also liked to hunt and spend time with his family and friends. . He is survived by his girlfriend, Ashley Overbeeke of Cody, WY; mother, Gail (Terry) Wilkerson of Joplin, MO; brother Zachary (Heather) UDean and baby Jennaof Backus, MN; grandmother, Laree Bemis and fiance Robert Dietz of Milaca; uncles, Dean Bemis of Foreston, Duane (Kim) Bemis of Colorado and Richard (Kim) Bemis of Detriot Lakes; cousins, Christra and Alix Bemis of Colorado; also by many other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by great-grandparents, George and Minnie Bemis and Kearney and Idell Baker; grandfather, Kenneth Bemis.
