Funeral services for Violet Packard, age 90, of Milaca, will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 11 AM at the Milaca Elim Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Sahlstrom officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM on Tuesday at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca and 1 hour prior to the service at the Elim Home Chapel on Wednesday. Arr. Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca.
Violet Lorraine Packard was born December 11, 1919 to Edward and Judith (Nelson) Harvey in Minneapolis, MN. In the 6th grade, she moved with her family to Milaca and graduated from Milaca High School in 1938. She married Stuart Packard in Milaca in 1939 and to this union seven children were born. They made their home on a farm near Milaca and Violet worked at the Milaca Hospital and Fingerhut in Princeton. After Stuart passed away in 2004, she moved to the Milaca Elim Home where she lived until the time of her death. She enjoyed crocheting, traveling and singing in the choir. She died on Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Fairview Northland Regional Hospital in Princeton.
She is survived by her children, Stuart (Pat) Packard of Milaca, Judy (Neil) Eggen of Milaca, Patricia Welker of Prosser, WA, Jon Packard and friend Betty Manthie of Milaca, Mary Evensen of Milaca and Mark (Charlotte) Packard of Winter Haven, FL; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; niece, Brenda Frank of Becker; also by many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stuart, Sr., son, Jay; sisters, Vivian and Marge and son-in-law, Andy Evensen.
