Mary Louise (Wilken) Siemers, age 72, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the Milaca Elim Home after a battle with Alzheimer’s. Visitation will be Friday, April 30 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday both at Zion Lutheran Church in Milaca. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 1 at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, Milaca, Minnesota. Pastors Stephen Blenkush, Jon Olson and Tom Sahlstrom will officiate. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca. Casketbearers will include Sarah Siemers, Christopher Siemers, Adam Siemers, Christina Siemers, Danielle Siemers and Riley Siemers. Arr. Mary was born December 29, 1937 in Kandiyohi County, Bird Island, Minnesota to Dorr and Evelyn Wilken. Mary was married to Dale Siemers on August 4, 1956 at Lutheran parsonage in Brunswick, Minnesota. She and Dale lived in Milaca their entire married life.
Mary was employed at many local businesses including Fingerhut, the Ford Garage, Ace Hardware, Milaca Bakery, Princeton Sale Barn Cafe, and Mille Lacs County Courthouse.
Mary was a long standing member of Zion Lutheran Church, an active member of the Eunice Circle, Church Council and Altar Guild. Mary was also a member of the Hansen-Hayes Legion Auxiliary. Mary enjoyed her family, friends and faith. Next to her family, gardening was one of her greatest passions. She also enjoyed traveling, making quilts and baking chocolate chip cookies. Mary was a loving, compassionate woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Mary is survived by her husband Dale; sons, Craig (Julie) of Aitkin, Alan (Debbie) of Elk River, Randy (Sue) of Becker and Dean of Garrison; six grandchildren, Sarah, Christopher, Adam (Liz), Christina, Danielle (Shimon) and Riley; two great-grandchildren, Colton and Elizabeth; brothers, Ron (Pat) Wilken of Milaca and David Wilken of Milaca and sister-in-law, Nancy (Paul) Wilken of Milaca, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Mary is preceded in death by parents Dorr and Evelyn Wilken; siblings, Ramona and Paul and grandson, Brandon.
