Funeral services for F. Maxine Newgard, age 90, of Bock, will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca with Rev. Barb Peterson officiating. Music will be provided by Cheryl Bailey and Ann Johnson. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Casketbearers will be Curtis Newgard, Kevin Newgard, Allen Newgard, Steven Newgard, Jesse Newgard, and Jesse Gerads. Honorary casketbearers will include Christopher Newgard, James Mitchell and Daniel Mitchell. Interment will follow at Borgholm Cemetery near Bock.
F. Maxine Newgard was born February 23, 1920 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Because of her passion of farming at an early age, she was raised by her aunts and uncles in the Dawson, Boyd, and Canby area of Minnesota. She met George Newgard in Minneapolis. They were united in marriage October 31, 1940 at the church parsonage in Bock. The couple farmed north of Bock.
She enjoyed flowers, horses, trapping with her friend Esther, crafts, and sewing doll clothing. She also enjoyed bringing up the “tail end” of the Bock 4th of July Parade.
Maxine died Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Milaca Elim Home at the age of 90 years, 2 months and 12 days.
She is survived by three sons, Dennis and friend Jean Trabant “Cookie” of Anoka, LeRoy (Loretta) of Milaca and Terry (Jean) of Milaca; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by husband, George in 1991; daughter-in-law, Marilyn, and step-brother, Leonard.
