Cornie Van’t Hof was born August 13, 1925 in Leota, MN to Case and Johanna (Schmidt) Van’t Hof. He was raised in Southern Minnesota. He was drafted in to the army in 1945 and did his basic training at Fort Bliss, TX. Just before he was to leave for Korea the war ended and he was honorably discharged in 1946. On July 13, 1949 he married Frances Ahlers at the Christian Reformed Church in Leota. Cornie loved to farm and enjoyed milking cows, feeding calves and all kinds of animals. He also enjoyed working in the fields, from ordering the seed corn and fertilizer, to turning up the soil to plant again, to watching the beauty of God’s work of making things grow. Cornie enjoyed helping people very much. He really enjoyed going to auctions because he would always meet new people and before long he had another friend that would just listen and lend a helping hand when needed. Cornie loved card games, especially Rook it was a game that he like the most. Sometimes the games didn’t go right, but he still kept on playing. Cornie also loved to go bowling and fishing with his brothers and sisters and later on in life with his wife and children. He passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Cornie is survived by his wife, Frances, of 60 years; children, Carol (Steven) Voss of Worthington, Calvin (friend Sharon) of Caldwell, ID, Kenneth of Sacramento, CA, Ivan (friend Lillian) of Ogilvie, Rodney (Brenda) of Milaca, Rosella (Shell) Pieper of North Branch, Ronald of Milaca and Norman (Deb) of Milaca; 22 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, John, Tony and Leonard; sister, Bertha; also by many other relatives and friends.
