Funeral services for Larry Myren, age 73, of Princeton, formerly of Cambridge, will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at 11 AM at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease with Pastor David Smit officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 from 5 – 8 PM and 1 hour prior to the service both at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease. Soloist will be Melissa George, organist will be Lois Roelofs and pallbearers will be Dave, Mike, Jerry, Bryce, Royce and Kyle Myren. Interment will be at the Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, TX at a later date. Laurence A. (Larry) Myren passed into glory Sunday evening, June 20, surrounded by his loving family, after a valiant fight against cancer. He was born to Arnold and Alby (Anderson) Myren in Cambridge, MN December 2, 1936. After graduating from Cambridge High School in 1954 he joined the USAF serving in Germany until his honorable discharge in 1957.
While on leave, Larry met Doris (Timmer). They were married in Pease in 1958, and were blessed with 4 sons: Dave, Mike, Doug and Jerry. He graduated from the Minnesota School of Business and joined the American Excelsior Company in numerous capacities and locations, retiring after 30+ years as Regional Vice President. He had several post-retirement careers and in 2007 he moved back to MN where he worked for DHL and FedEx.
Larry and Doris were charter members of the Bethel Christan Reformed Church in Dallas where they lived for 31 years.
Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris, in 2001, his baby son, Doug in 1962 and his parents.
He is survived by sons Dave (Kim) of Garland TX, Mike (Joy) of Anoka and Jerry (Kathy) of The Woodlands, TX. Grandchildren Tanya (Charlie) Ruyle of San Antonio TX, Melissa (Randy) George of Dallas, TX, Ricky Myren of Garland TX, Bryce, Lance and Royce Myren of Anoka, Lauryn Thomas and Kyle Myren of The Woodlands, TX, great grandchildren Hannah and Payton Ruyle of San Antonio TX, Brenden Myren of Anoka. Sister Lois (John) Rouser of Atwater, MN, brothers Lee (MaryEllen) Myren of Detroit Lakes, MN, and Lyle (Carol) Myren of Isanti, MN, brothers-in-law Don (Margaret) Timmer of Milaca, Russ (Shirley) Timmer of Oconomowoc, WI, Loren (Joyce) Timmer of Milaca, Gary (Carol) Timmer of Milaca, as well as his devoted friend and caregiver Carol Smith of Princeton. He is also survived by an uncle and many nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
