Funeral services for Albert Johansen, age 81, of Milaca, will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 11 AM at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease with Pastor David Smit officiating. Interment will follow at the Pease Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Military honors will be provided by Hansen-Hayes American Legion Post #178 and Siemers-Hakes VFW Post #10794. Arr. Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home of Milaca.
Albert Johansen was born August 13, 1928 in Pease, MN to Nicholas and Margaret (Jongejeuge) Johansen. He married Jeanette Pearson on June 7, 1947 in Milaca, MN. The couple moved to a farm west of Pease, MN where they farmed together. Albert served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956. After completing his service, Albert returned to farming. Jeanette passed away in 1997. In 2003, Albert joined the Elim Oasis in Princeton. He married Bernice Freese on September 24, 2004 at Taylors Falls, MN. Bernice passed away in 2007. Most recently Albert had been residing at the home of Kim Evenson in Zimmerman, MN. He died on Monday, July 5, 2010 at the Fairview Northland Regional Hospital in Princeton.
He is survived by his cousins, Beverly (Arlan) Mercil of East Bethel, Dena Peterson of Pine City, MN, Sidney (Jeanette) Droogsma of Milaca, Florence VanDeRiet of Milaca, Joan Droogsma of Milaca and Raymond (Lil) Droogsma of Milaca; the extended Freese Family and also by many other relatives and friends.
