Funeral services for Pearl Broberg, age 90, of Milaca, will be held on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 11 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca with Rev. Tim Bauer officiating. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM on Thursday at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca at a later date. Arr. Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home of Milaca.
Pearl Irene Broberg was born February 29, 1920 to Hans and Grace (Starkweather) Larsen, the fifth of nineteen children. She attended school in Borgholm Township, where she met her life long friend, Mae Carlson DeVries, a friendship she cherished throughout her life. She graduated from Milaca High School in 1939. On June 24, 1941, she married Roy Broberg. Together they put their hearts into building a successful farm and raising their children. To her great pleasure, their home was a place for many family gatherings and reunions throughout the years. She will be remembered for her quiet strength, kind heart, loving devotion to family, as well as her enthusiastic approach to life. She passed away peacefully with family at her side on Saturday, August 21, 2010.
She is survived by her children, Judy (John) Hoidal of Salt Lake City, UT, Butch (Rhonda) Broberg of Robbinsdale, MN and Kathy (Bob) Schlichte of Maple Grove; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Elaine Sanderson; brothers, Melvin, Jim, Ray, Gene, Gary and Ralph Larsen; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy; daughter-in-law, Jean Broberg and siblings, Sophie, Wilma, Karen, Lawrence, Levi, Hans, Vernon, Marvin, Paul, Donald and John.
