Funeral services for Louise G. Kirk, age 97, of Longville, formerly of Milaca, will be held Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Milaca Evangelical Free Church with Rev. Dan Clausen officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, November 12, 2010 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca. Also, one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will take place at the Forest Hill Cemetery near Milaca. Music will be provided by Donna Pearson and Dick Ahlberg. Casketbearers will include Joe Pearson, Sam Pearson, Don Pearson, Robert Pearson, Jim Pearson, Bill Pearson, and George Watson.
Louise Gwendolyn Kirk was born January 02, 1913 to David and Tina (Berglin) Pearson, who were immigrants from Sweden. She attended Lincoln School, north of Foreston. She graduated from Milaca High School in 1931 and from Normal Training School in 1933, where she earned a teaching certificate. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Saint Cloud Teacher’s College in the 1960’s.
She was united in marriage to Merle Kirk in 1939. They lived in Milaca and Foreston, until 1952, when they moved to Onamia.
She taught in rural schools in Mille Lacs and Benton counties for seventeen years, and in the Onamia Elementary School system for another seventeen years, retiring in 1977.
Louise moved to Longville in 2000, to be closer to her family. She has resided at the Golden Living Center in Walker, Minnesota since August, 2009.
Louise loved traveling with friends and family, sewing, quilting, doing crossword puzzles, and visiting.
Louise died Monday, November 08, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Walker, Minnesota.
She is survived by two daughters; Janet (Michael) Diesso of Princeton, New Jersey and Anita (Dennis) Zaske of Longville, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Melissa (Darren) Week of Longville, Minnesota, Aaron (Kelly) Zaske of Andover, Minnesota, and Adam (Amy) Zaske of Saint Paul, Minnesota; seven great-grandchildren, Kendyll, Payton, and Taylor Week; Kaitlyn, Joseph, and Matthew Zaske, and Axel Zaske; sister-in-law, Pat Kirk of Baxter, Minnesota; nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Merle; three brothers, James (June), Clinton (Bev), and Thorwald.
