Gurene Frances Goebel

Funeral services for Gurene Goebel, age 86, of Milaca, will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 11 AM at Milaca Alliance Church with Rev. Don Smith and Rev. Tom Sahlstrom officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Brook Cemetery near Swanville, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Music will be provided by Debbie Vedders and Bev Berghuis. Casketbearers will include Ray Richardson, Eugene Richardson, Laren Sauter, Terry Sauter, Gale Sauter, Robert Engstrom and Larry Schrupp. Arr. Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home of Milaca. Gurene Frances Goebel was born September 3, 1924 in Swanville, MN to Leo and Elsie (Schrupp) Goebel. She grew up and attended school in Swanville, graduating in 1942. She worked as a nurses aide in Little Falls for a couple of years before moving to St. Paul, MN. While living in St. Paul, she worked as a secretary for Indianhead Truck Lines. In 1995, she moved to Milaca and worked at Cointainer until her retirement. Gurnene enjoyed baking cookies, writing poetry and embroidery. She died on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Milaca Elim Home. She is survived by her sisters, Virginia Goebel of Milaca, Leah (Walter) Kreie of Minot, ND and Glenna (Clarence) Sauter of Milaca; four nephews; two nieces; also by other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Elsie.
