Barb Beeuwsaert

Barbara Beeuwsaert passed away on October 17, 2023, at home with her family by her side.  A Commemeration Mass will be held Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 1 PM at St. Louis Catholic Church in Foreston.  Visitation will take place from 12 - 1 PM at the church on Thursday.  Private interment will take place at a later date.

Barbara Carol (Hakes) Beeuwsaert was born December 1, 1966, in Cambridge, MN to Clarence and Virginia Hakes. They moved around quite a bit in the early years of Barb’s life because of Clarence’s involvement in the military.

On February 24, 1971, Barb lost her dad to an aircraft crash in Vietnam while serving the war. Barb was very proud of her dad and continued to tell his story throughout her life.

Growing up, Barb lived in Princeton, MN and graduated from Princeton High School in 1985. After graduation, Barb attended beauty school and received her cosmetology license. 

In 1989, Barb met Jeff Beeuwsaert and then they were married on April 25, 1992, in Foreston, MN at St. Louis Catholic Church.

Barb worked at various jobs throughout her life including Crystal Cabinets, and Casey’s General Store in Milaca for quite a few years until deciding to go back to cosmetology school and get her license once more. After she worked at Shear Beauty, with her home bound service permit she started doing clients hair at their homes. 

Barb loved her clients, and her clients loved her. She was always making them wash scrubbies or hand towels she made by hand. She also gave anyone she knew having a baby a set of baby booties she crocheted. She loved her craft projects, vintage hair pieces, coloring books and music. She was known to blare her “psychotic playlist” while cleaning the house or whipping up one of her delicious meals. She loved her trips with Jeff they took every year. And if there was a gift shop or antique store on the way, you bet she wanted to stop in and look. Barb loved to spoil the grandchildren with gifts, goodies, and taking them on trips.

When Barb found out her illness was terminal, she decided to donate her body to the University of Minnesota Medical School’s Anatomy Bequest Program to someday be able to save someone’s life down the road.

Barb is survived by her husband of 31 years, Jeff Beeuwsaert;  children, Ross (Amber) Beeuwsaert of Melrose, MN, and Ashley Beeuwsaert of Foreston, MN;  grandchildren, Ayden and Nora, and grand cat, Autumn;  mother, Virginia Hakes;  mother-in-law, Marlene Beeuwsaert;  sisters, Lisa Hakes and Katie (Brendan) O’Shaughnessy;  brother-in-law, Bob (Annette) Beeuwsaert;  sisters-in-law, Amy Homstad, Kathy (Chris) Mycue, and Lisa (Anthony) Will;  also, many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

Barb is preceded in death by her father, Clarence Hakes;  father-in-law, John Beeuwsaert, aunts, and uncles.
