It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara May Wilcox announces her passing on February 20, 2025 at Brainerd Hospital at the age of 87 years and 5 days.
Barb was born February 15, 1938 to Ernest and Florence Eggleston in Aurora, Iowa, where she grew up and attended school. On November 3, 1956 Barbara married Gerald Wilcox in Independence, Iowa. In 1970, the couple moved to Milaca.
You may remember Barb’s smiling face behind the bar at Secord’s/DJ’s in Bock, then later as the manager at Princeton Legion Post 216 for many years, where Barb formed a life-long friendship with Julie Carlson also of Milaca. Most recently Barb worked at the Howling Dog Pub and the Kountry Kettle in Bock, until she finally decided to retire at the age of 85.
Barb is survived by her children, Cindy Biederman of Bock, Jerry (Shanon) Wilcox of Kenai, AK, Deborah (Gordy) Kurtz of Pierz, Jim (Laurie) Wilcox and Jennifer (Troy) Worth both of Milaca; sisters-in-law, Sandy McGraw of Independence, IA and Lorraine Cook of Warren, IL; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Natasha Guevarra of Perry, GA and Manny Guevarra of New Braunfels, TX and children Dominic, Gabriel and Eleanor, Eric (Shannon) Biederman of Cibolo, TX, and children Elizabeth, Alyssa and Jillian, Ricky Biederman of Bock and Danielle Cook of Milaca and children Hannah, Alexis and Lucas, Kacee (Walter) Coleman of Tampa, FL and children Walter, Anaya and Lance, Justin (Makayla) Wilcox of Milaca and children Emily and Coda, Michelle (John) Boeder of Pierz and children Matthew, Rachel and Jacob, Michael (Candace) Kurtz of Milaca and children Emile, Hannah and Lily, David (Lisa) Kurtz of Elk River and children Leighton and Caleb, Doug Gossen (Tricia Volonnino) of Milaca and children Kelsey, Seth, Mackenzie and Avery, Amanda (Brad) Buss of Milaca and children Addyson and Harrison and Thomas Worth of Milaca.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry; sister, Delores; brother, Earl; son-in-law, Bill Biederman; granddaughter, Caitelyn Worth and many other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at 11 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Milaca. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Death leaves a heartache nothing can heal.
