Bryan Nelson, age 50, of Milaca, passed away Monday, October 14, 2024 at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at 11 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Milaca. Pastor Kate Mensing will officiate. Interment will follow at Wendell Hill Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 4 - 7 PM Monday at Zion Lutheran Church and continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
Bryan Nelson was born November 10, 1973 in Edina, MN to Dennis and Linda (Wilson) Nelson. Bryan grew up in Milaca and graduated from Milaca High School in 1992. In younger years, Bryan was a Sunday Newspaper Delivery Driver in Duluth, MN. Bryan went to Technical College to become a Diesel Mechanic and worked at MTW. Bryan also worked at an Auto Body Shop. Bryan worked at GL Herges Excavating and installed Sewer Systems. Bryan loved to farm and run heavy equipment along with other countless projects. He also worked at Latcham-Lind Lumber, and in 2010 Bryan and Candice purchased the business.
Bryan married Candice (Culp) Nelson August 15, 1998 in Milaca, MN. They have lived in the Milaca area since. Bryan was pursuing one of his dreams of becoming a private pilot. Bryan’s hobbies included snowmobiling, fishing and hunting. Bryan loved to sit around campfires and listen to old country music. Bryan loved to work on anything he could get his hands on. He also enjoyed numerous TV shows and movies.
Bryan is survived by his wife, Candice of Milaca; sons, Luke Nelson and Trevor Nelson; daughter, Bryanna Nelson; step-son, Zachary Gustafson; two grandkids, Kaven Nelson and Amara Gustafson; parents, Dennis and Linda (Wilson) Nelson of Milaca; siblings, Jonathan (Sadie) Nelson of Sartell, MN, Brandon (Lynn) Nelson of Shafer, MN, Michael (Corrine) Nelson of Blaine, MN; brother-in-law, David Culp and many nieces and nephews.
Bryan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Axel and Florence Wilson, George and Mable Nelson; godfather Uncle David Nelson and father-in-law, Gerald Culp and mother-in-law, Janice Culp.
