Charlotte Ann Nelson, age 96, of Milaca, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Princeton Elim Care. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at 11 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Tri-County Human Society of St. Cloud.
She was born January 18, 1923 in Amery, WI to Percy and Laura (Peterson) Wilhelm. In 1939, she moved with her family to Osseo, WI, where she graduated from high school in 1940. In the fall of 1940, she moved to Minneapolis with her family. She married Oscar B. Nelson on June 21, 1941 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. In April 1952, Oscar’s parents retired from farming and Oscar and Charlotte bought their farm in Milo Township. She and Oscar spent 51 years working on their Guernsey dairy farm. Oscar died in 2003 and Charlotte stayed on the farm until May of 2019, when she moved to Princeton Elim Care. She loved living on the farm and loved the various pets they had through the years. Over the decades, the rescued many dogs and Charlotte adopted the last one when she was 95 years old, knowing that she had something to offer canines in need. She was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca. She liked gardening, bird watching, growing flowers, reading, cooking and baking. She enjoyed the times when her nieces and nephews spent summers on the farm.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and her dog, Xena.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar; sister, Gael Johnson and brother, Bob Wilhelm.
