David Jay Lakoduk was born September 24, 1953 at Trinity Hospital in Minot, North Dakota to Harry Robert and Susie Maggie (Fandrich) Lakoduk. When he was six weeks old, the family moved from a small three bedroom house on the Lakoduk homestead near Max, North Dakota to a large farmhouse on a dairy farm in Elk River, where David grew up. He graduated from Elk River High School in 1971.
After several years of chasing the wind, God blessed David with a daughter in 1981. Near that time, God also quickened his heart and David surrendered his life to the Lord. From then on, he dedicated the work of his hands to the Lord and devoted much of his time in God’s word and spending time training his daughter and later his grandchildren to do the same.
David had many hobbies. He enjoyed motorcycle rides in the country, rock collecting, woodworking and photography, to name a few. He enjoyed God’s creation and appreciated the small, seemingly unnoticeable details in life. Anyone who was privileged to have had a conversation with him was sure to have a new perspective on life. David was easy to talk to and had a quirky sense of humor, but wanted nothing more than to see others come to know their need for Christ. David dearly loved all his grandchildren and each one had a special, unique place in his heart. He was truly the best dad and grandpa ever. David passed away Monday, December 27, 2021.
David is survived by his daughter, Amanda (Cory); grandchildren, Tyler, Kinzee (Abram), Jordyn, Lane, Reichen, Avleigh, Griffin, Leland, Tucker, Maggie and JoyAnna; great-granddaughter, Ely; siblings, Joyce (Ed), Sandra (Gary), Myron (Veronica), Harold, Duane (Trang) and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Cynthia (Steven) and nephew, Robert.
