David Peter Oien

March 10, 1964 — January 24, 2023

David Peter Oien was born March 10, 1964 to Melvin and Gloria (Hellman) Oien in Princeton, MN.  He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca.  David graduated from Milaca High School in 1982.  David went on to graduate from Moorhead State University with a degree in construction management.  He took additional online classes at the University of Minnesota and earned certificates as a construction installer, construction site manager and design of construction.  David worked at Bogart, Pederson and Associates as a computer technologist.  He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Milaca and was instrumental in setting up the livestream for the church. 

David is survived by his sons, Justin (Cassie Callahan) Oien and Nicholas Oien;  grandchildren, Braiden, Bethany and Braxton;  mother, Gloria, siblings, Deanne Ballentine, Tim (Kristin) Oien, Gail (Dave) Totzke;  close friends, Mark Boggs and Jeff Dieken;  uncle, Floyd (MaryAnn) Hellman;  also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin and nephew, JMichael Ballentine.

A celebration of David’s life will be held Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 2 PM at Zion Lutheran Church in Milaca.  Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church.
