Dorothy M. Millam, age 103, of Milaca, passed away peacefully at the Milaca Elim Home on Thursday, December 1, 2022.

Dear Mother, Dear Mother

My siblings are tired

And needing a rest

It’s my turn for Mom

This is only a test

She cared for us all

Her pleasure to do

Now paybacks are hell

An old saying but true

So Mom’s coming home

Step up to the plate

She almost knows us

And everything’s great

When a brand new person

Enters therein

She remembers somehow

C’mon in, where you been?

How ‘bout a smile now

While I hold your hand

You’re safe here with me

Try tomorrow again

Forever thankful

Grateful and proud

A quiet little time

When chairs are too loud

Valued like gold

By a family just found

She clings to her baby

Who makes not a sound

Pats and caresses

Traveling through time

From far away looks to a twinkling sublime

Those eyes keep secrets

Ten decades untold

Cargo for our ships

Carried deep in the hold

A most generous gift

She continues to give

The greatest of all

The passion to live

Evening brings sunset

Glinting off the bay

She imagines it’s her

At the end of the day

As her voyage continues

Destination well know

We will see you in heaven

Our forever home

A celebration of Dorothy’s life is planned for Sunday, June 18, 2023 from 1 – 4 PM at the Milaca American Legion.
