Esther Arlene Amborn

Esther Arlene Amborn, age 82 of Andover, MN passed away peacefully on April 5th surrounded by her family.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 11 AM at Milaca Alliance Church.  Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Esther was born on January 27, 1940, to Chester and Katherine Mickelson. She was raised on the family farm in Milaca, MN and graduated from Milaca high school in 1958. Later that year, she married her first husband, Arnie Barnes and had 3 children; Kevin, Shari, and Terese. They raised their family in Mound, MN.

Esther dedicated herself to being a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She enjoyed several hobbies including flower gardening, puzzles, and cooking new recipes for her family to enjoy. Her greatest joy was sewing, from making Barbie doll clothes to quilts, she loved passing these items on to her children and grandchildren.

In 1991, Esther met her second husband, Howard Amborn, and the two were inseparable from that point on. Esther and Howard were married for 28 wonderful years until his death in 2020. They enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe.

Esther is survived by her brothers, Jim Mickelson (Vicki), Marvin Mickelson (Linda);  sister, Marlys Minks;  first husband, Arnie Barnes;  children, Kevin Barnes, Shari Hayes (Jim) and Terese Barnes (Beth);  stepchildren, Analyn Walchak (Paul), Annette Krause, Lynette Haaga and Jason Amborn (Deanna);  grandchildren, Stephanie Gapinski (Chris), Joe Podkopacz (Shauni), Anthony Podkopacz (Aly), Nick Podkopacz (Taylor), Jennifer Krause (Kevin), Kaylen Whetstone (Pat), Brian Krause, Ella and Lucas Amborn, and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Amborn;  sister, Karen Kragt;  sister-in-law, Jackie Mickelson and brother-in-law, Lee Minks.
