Evelyn Mae Taubert

Evelyn Taubert, age 91, of Princeton, formerly of Elk River, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Sterling Pointe Senior Living in Princeton.  Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, March 22, 2021 at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca.  Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home

Evelyn was born at home on the family farm in Starbuck, MN on May 14, 1929, to Harold and Alice Carlson.  She was joined by her sister, Adeline, five years later.  She attended grade school in Swift Falls, and graduated from Milaca High School. 

Evelyn married Lowell Taubert on June 25, 1949.  They were blessed with five children: Gregory, Douglas, Janell, Debra, and Wendy.   Evelyn was a gentle and caring mother, and kept the home warm and welcoming while raising the kids at their home in Richfield, then Coon Rapids, and later Elk River, where they remained for nearly 50 years. 

The family enjoyed most summer vacations at Lake Miltona, fishing and waterskiing, with Evelyn cheering from the dock.  Other family vacations included a camper road-trip to Yellowstone National Park, and Lake Louise, Canada. 

When the kids were raised, Evelyn worked at McDonald’s, and then at Walmart in Elk River.  She also provided day-care for several of her grandkids when they were little.  Although she always kept a clean house, she loved to get her hands dirty in her vegetable garden.  In the home, or in the yard, she was always taking care of others.  After 65 years of marriage, and taking care of Lowell, she was separated from him by his death in 2014.

Throughout her life, Evelyn remained an active church-goer in the Evangelical Free Church.  She was ever grateful for life’s blessings, and always held a happy heart.  She never made anyone feel less than they were.  She spent her final two years at Sterling Pointe Assisted Living in Princeton, and was well-known as a sweetheart to the staff there, too.

God called Evelyn home on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at the age of 91 years and 10 months.  She will be missed by all who knew her.
