A celebrations of Jerry's life will be held Friday, April 21, 2023 at 11 AM at Milaca Alliance Church. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. A light lunch will be served following the service.
He was drafted into the army during the Korean war, serving in Alaska. Upon his return, he settled in Los Angeles, California where he attended the Nazarene College for a year and a half. He then attended trade school to become an electrician.
He moved to the Twin Cities where he met and married his first wife Val in 1960. They moved to Lauderdale, MN where they were blessed with and raised their three children, Shelly, Danny and Angie. In 1984 after his first marriage ended, he married Pat and was blessed with four stepchildren, Debbie, Beth, David and James.
In his twenties Jerry invited Jesus to be his Savior and Lord. He loved and served Him for the rest of his days. He volunteered in a variety of ways for the church. In the 1960s he drove a bus in Northeast Minneapolis picking up children to take them to Sunday School. He provided electrical help at his church. He and his wife Pat served as sowers at bible camps mostly in the upper Midwest area. After he retired, they went to Bibleville camp, and also helped serve in an orphanage in Mexico.
He enjoyed traveling and camping in his RV, taking trips out west to visit family. He enjoyed duck hunting, deer hunting, and taking his boat out fishing. He enjoyed playing guitar and could often be heard whistling a cheery tune.
He participated in building the last two houses he owned, and always took pride in his work.
Jerry was kind, likeable, hardworking, and good-humored. He enriched the lives of those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Pat, three children Shelly (Randy), Danny, and Angie (Daniel), as well as his stepchildren Debbie (Randy), David (Susana), James (Nic) as well as his 16 grandchildren and (currently) 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Kenneth, Jean, Joel, Myrtle, and Stanley and stepdaughter Beth.
