Funeral services for Henry Kunst, age 90, will be held Thursday, August 15, 2019 at 9 AM at Salem Lutheran Church in Dalbo with Pastor Mary Fiel officiating. A time of fellowship will follow the service at the church. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Louis Cemetery in Foreston.
Henry passed away peacefully Monday, August 12, 2019 at Prairie Home Cottages in Isanti, MN.
He was born September 14, 1928 in the Milaca Township to Frank and Ida (Santema) Kunst. Henry grew up on the family farm and went to the Mille Lacs County Rural School District 60 graduating June 24, 1943.
Henry and his family (2 sisters Mary and Margaret; 5 brothers Bernard, Frank, Anthony, Robert, and William) were well known, in the Foreston area for their hard work, farming a 240-acre farm with horses.
Henry received his first holy communion and was confirmed at the St. Louis Catholic Church (Foreston) in 1941. He was a faithful servant in his beliefs and actions all through his life.
He was inducted into the Army Company C 199thEngineer Combat Battalion on October 24, 1950. He served until March 31, 1952.
Henry loved gardening, hunting, fishing, puzzles, and “calling BINGO” at the Milaca Senior Center.
He was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Carlson on May 5, 2007 and they resided in Cambridge, MN until moving to the Milaca Elim Home in October 2014.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Carlson Kunst of Isanti; brother, Anthony (Mary) Kunst of Ogilvie; 3 step-sons, Tim (Lana) Carlson of Stanchfield, Greg (Ann) Carlson of Cambridge, Cory (Jenny) Carlson of Cambridge; step-daughter Tammy (Peter) Fleming of Maple Grove; 10 step-grandchildren and 9 great-step-grandchildren.
