Ivy was a hard worker. She kept a neat and tidy house, baked and cooked for her family. We kids especially enjoyed harvest time as mom pulled out all the stops when she fixed lunch and supper for the harvest crews. She was an excellent cook! During haying time she was a welcome site driving out in the field to bring us lunch; baloney on homemade buns, Kool-Aid, cookies. It tasted wonderful in the shade of the hay wagon. She loved music. She had a great affinity for automobiles and managed to turn out at least one motorhead in the family. She was a staunch Democrat. She enjoyed watching the news and was interested in politics. Her faith was important to her and she was a long-time member of the Evangelical Free Church in Milaca. She is the sole survivor of both her and her husband’s siblings.
She is survived by her children Donna (Verlin) Vedders of Cambridge, Robert (Sharon) Nelson of Faribault, Janis Lee of Milaca, Faye Thayer of Milaca, Wayne (Sally) Nelson of Milaca, 11 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 siblings, husband Irven, her son Gary, and 2 great-granddaughters. She will be greatly missed.
Funeral service will be held Friday, September 15, 2023 at 11 AM at Milaca Evangelical Free Church. Burial will follow at Borgholm Cemetery near Bock. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
