Memorial services for James Michelau, age 77, of Milaca, will be held Friday, October 8, 2021 at 2 PM at Milaca United Methodist Church in Milaca with Pastor Joyce Slostad officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 1 - 4 PM at Hansen-Hayes American Legion in Milaca.
James LeRoy Michelau, age 77, of Milaca, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021 at St. Cloud Hospital.
He was born March 13, 1944 in Denver, CO to Anton and Vivian (Vosberg) Michelau. He attended St. Gabriel’s Catholic School through 8th grade and then attended Fulda High School. He served in the US Army from August 1969 to August 1975. James was stationed in Vietnam from August 7, 1969 to May 2, 1971. On July 19, 1985, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Lanning in Anoka, MN. He was a member of the American Legion for over 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, playing bingo, watching football and baseball games on TV and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gary Morrison, Gary Michelau and twin brothers who died at birth and daughter, Mary Bradshaw.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; sisters, Shirley Beaudry and Judy (Pat) Guetter; daughters, Laurie Michelau, Heather (Mark) Watters, Shawna Norberg and Beverlee Michelau; step-daughters, Jenny Boen and Melissa Sanken; sons, Steve Michelau, John Norberg and Tony Michelau; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
