Jeanette E. Nelson

Funeral services for Jeanette Nelson, age 96, of St. Cloud, formerly of Foley, will be held Monday, October 31, 2022 at 11 AM at Estes Brook Evangelical Free Church.  Burial will follow at Estes Brook Cemetery.  Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Memorials are preferred to Estes Brook Free Church.

Jeanette E. Nelson was born in Rockford, IL on February 15, 1926 to David and Eileen (Kempf) Seagren.  In 1933 Jeanette, with her parents and grandparents moved to Oak Park, MN.  Jeanette attended grade school in Oak Park and graduated from Foley High School.  She attended St. Cloud Teacher’s College for one year.  Jeanette went to Minneapolis to work.  She worked in defense plants during the war and later worked at Butler Brothers, which is now Butler Square.

On September 4, 1953 she was united in marriage to Wesley Nelson.  They lived in Illinois for five years.  In 1960, they moved back to Foley, MN.  She worked at Federal Cartridge for nine years then quit to help Wesley with Foley Electrical Service. Three children were born to Jeanette and Wesley; Diane, Kenneth and Roger. 

In 1996, Jeanette moved to Dewey Place Apartments in Foley where she volunteered in the kitchen and serving meals.  She moved to The Sanctuary at St. Cloud in 2018.  She did a lot of embroidery and gave many sets of dish towels to family and friends.  She was a member of the Estes Brook Free Church where she was a Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher and assisted in the Nursery.

She is survived by Diane (David) McClure, St. Cloud, and Kenneth (Sharon Dahlquist). Ham Lake; six grandchildren Nicole (Jeff) Klein, Lisa (John) Roske, Nina (Jake Wegman) Kutz, Sara (Cody) Cox, Scott (Jennifer) McClure, Katie Nelson and 15 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Roger, and grandson, David.
