Joyce Bouma

Joyce Bouma passed away October 7, 2024, on her 87th birthday. Preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Edward Bouma. Memorial services will be held Monday, November 4, 2024 at 11 AM at the Zion Lutheran Church in Milaca. Interment will take place at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. 

She is survived by brother, Paul Johnson, and twin sister, Joan Van Grinsven. children; Steve and Cindy Bouma, Jean and Mike Neis, Pam and Shawn Skramstad, Carla Wildenstein and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Joyce worked as a pinsetter in the Milaca bowling alley before marrying Ed. She was a busy farm wife and homemaker, raising four kids, leading 4-H projects, helping with homework, and cooking the many meals for family and farm work crews. There was always a dessert on hand in case anyone stopped by. All this while also helping with feeding and milking, unloading hay wagons, picking rock, mowing the lawn, and canning and freezing produce from their farm. Family would gather regularly for Christmas, the 4th of July, family reunions and birthdays, hosted out of her large kitchen. 

When asked weeks ago how she wanted to celebrate her 87th birthday, she replied “Sleep”. May she rest in peace.
