Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. There will be a private burial at a later date. She passed away April 20, 2017 at UCLA Medical Center due to declining health. Karolyn was born August 11, 1961 in Milaca, MN to Duane and Lorraine (Eggen) French. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and continued to have a strong belief in God and in faithful prayer. She graduated from Ogilvie High School with the class of 1979 and continued her education at Anoka Vo-Tech College earning a degree in business management. After employment in Minneapolis for a period of time, she worked at the Foreston Co-op Creamery for several years and in 1997, she wanted to live in a warmer climate, and chose San Diego, CA. There she learned the swimming pool maintenance and repair business under the direction of Bill Peck. After a number of years, she relocated to the Los Angeles area to be closer to Minnesota friends and started her own successful swimming pool maintenance and repair business. Karolyn was a happy, fun loving person who will be sadly missed. She especially enjoyed the outdoors. Her interests included: traveling, camping, grilling, games, and in her younger years, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and motorcycling. There were many fond memories of family gatherings on her grandparents’ Pete Eggen’s farm near Milaca and the French’s on Viola Lake, WI. Karolyn was a very caring and generous person. She was always considerate of the less fortunate. She was a lover of animals and owned many dogs over the years - Barny being the one she left behind. Karolyn is survived by her parents, Duane and Lorraine French; brother, Dean (Audrey) French and their children, Chase and Meg; nephew, Tim (Katie) Elwood and their children, Ava and Scarlett; partner, Nancy Guerrero; employee, Isabel Vasquez; special friends, Kelly White and Bill Peck; also by many other relatives and friends.
