Kathy Alley

September 18, 1959 — November 11, 2024

McGregor

Kathy Alley, age 65, of McGregor, MN, passed away Monday, November 11, 2024 surrounded by loving family.  Funeral services will be held Monday, November 18, 2024 at 11 AM at Milaca United Methodist Church.  Interment will follow at Baldwin Cemetery near Princeton.  Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Kathy was born September 18th, 1959 in Milaca, Minnesota, the daughter of Calvin and Mary (Paull) Alley, where she was raised on the family farm. Kathy graduated from Milaca High School in 1977, then worked at East Central Electric until they discovered she was 17 years old. After her brief employment, Kathy lived as a foreign exchange student in Uppsala, Sweden for a year, where she had an audience with the king and queen and explored the beautiful country. When Kathy returned to the United States, she lived in California for two years before moving back home, where she continued correspondence with her Swedish host family for several years. Kathy had a love of learning and attended several higher-education institutions including Uppsala University (Uppsala, Sweden), St. Cloud Technical College, Anoka-Ramsey Community College, and the College of St. Scholastica. Through her love of learning, Kathy mastered information technology (IT), accounting, and tax law and shared her gifts and knowledge with anyone in need of her help.

Kathy married the love of her life, Michael “Micky” Huse on November 7th, 2024 at their home, in the company of Kathy’s family. Kathy and Micky found love that was born out of a friendship and lived happily together for 13 years with their blended families.

She worked as a truck driver for several highway repair companies, where she traveled the United States alongside her husband. In her time working on the road, she was highly regarded by her coworkers as being one of the few women tough enough to do the job.

Kathy was an avid traveler who had a deep sense of adventure. While working on the road, Kathy and Micky filled their days with sightseeing and working to fill their National Park book. When they returned home for the season, she loved to be surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Kathy was a lover of learning all things, spending time outdoors, hiking, and tending to her flower garden.

Remaining to cherish Kathy’s memory are her husband, Micky Huse; children, Lee, Maria (Jeremy), Nicole (Sean), and Jacklyn (Nathan); grandchildren, Anika, Chase, Avery, Tucker, Carter, and Connor; mother, Mary; brothers, John (Susan) and Robert (Annette) and sister, Melody (James), and many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.

Preceding Kathy in death are her father, Calvin Alley; sister, Elizabeth Alley; and many beloved aunts, uncles, and grandparents.

Kathy’s family asks that if you would like to honor her memory, please care for your local environment and wildlife, visit local and national parks, and beautify your community by planting lots and lots of flowers. If you feel so inclined, you may also commit to ongoing donations to Kathy’s favorite organizations in her honor: International Wolf Center (Ely, MN), World Wildlife Fund, or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
