Visitation will follow the graveside service from 10 - 11 AM Saturday at Estes Brook Evangelical Free Church. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday at the Estes Brook Evangelical Free Church. On June 27th, as planned by God, Lillian Johnson went to be with the Lord. This was four years to the day of the “love of her life’s” home going. Both Lillian and Virgil are now in the presence of our Savior and Lord. Lillian was born April 5, 1925 to William and Mary (Mayavski) Skuza in rural Popple Creek, MN. She was attracted to farm life from childhood. In early adulthood, at a roller skating outing in Foley, she met a farmer from Estes Brook. Their romance blossomed and the two were married at Treasure Island near San Francisco, CA while Virgil was in the Navy. They settled in a little farmhouse in Estes Brook, where they raised five children in a dwelling built for two. During this time, Lil supported her husband in his adventurous endeavors. Together they loved to travel. No destination was impossible for this duo. After becoming empty nesters, Lil and Virgil moved into a three-bedroom house in Coon Rapids for the winter. Following Lil’s retirement (19 years later), they discovered “city life” just wasn’t for them and returned to the little farmhouse in Estes Brook. Once again they found themselves back to the roots of farming. On another cold winter day when Lil was 87, they made their last adventurous move to a house in Milaca. Here she resided until God’s home was finished for her in heaven. Throughout her life, Lil showed kindness, was patient with others and had a servant heart. She loved the Lord and her family. She expressed her love through baking and giving handmade gifts. Reading scripture and praying for her family was a priority in her daily living. Her presence will be missed by those who remain behind; her children, Carol (Carl) Nelson, Doug (Rose), Dick (Cindy), Kevin (Susan), 9 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, sister, Alvina Fleck, brother, Loyal Skuza, as well as many other relatives and friends. Lil was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Virgil, and teenage son, Billy, along with many brothers and sisters.
