Marilyn Jean Anderson

Memorial service for Marilyn Anderson, age 86, of Milaca will be held Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 1 PM at Milaca Elim Home Chapel with Pastor Dale Clifton officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel on Tuesday.

Marilyn Jean (Swenson) Anderson was born March 24, 1932 to Albin and Jessie (Hofferbert) Swenson at home in Bogus Brook Township.  She was the youngest of nine children and grew up in the Depression.  Marilyn grew up poor, but always knew there was love in the house.  She never regretted it and she always cherished what she had.  Marilyn graduated from Milaca High School in 1950. She was a cheerleader and a member of the Homecoming Court.  She was united in marriage to Gustaf Robert Anderson on March 17, 1951 at Milaca United Methodist Church, while Bob was on leave from the Korean War.  Marilyn worked several jobs, but she was most proud of being a secretary to the high school principal for seventeen years. 

Marilyn’s passion was music and she taught herself to play.  She put aside her musical aspirations to raise her family and it wasn’t until her retirement that she picked up her guitar again.  Music kept Bob and Marilyn busy for years and they made so many great friends during that time.  How many weddings, funeral, trips to the nursing home, jams, rehearsals, nobody will know, but they have a suitcase full of thank you notes for all the music they played.  Marilyn loved her husband, kids, grandkids, music, her guitar, quilting and collecting. She was loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed. 

She passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Milaca Elim Home.

She is survived by her children, Jeff (Stephanie) Anderson and Joni (Nicholas) Bowers; grandchildren, Jordan Bowers, Chelsey Bowers (fiance Drew Hinrichs);  great-grandson, Jacoby Bowers;  sister, Yvonne Sundberg;  also by many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in July.
